Today we drove from Nashville up to Lexington. On the way we stopped by the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, which is out in the middle of Kentucky farm country.
Not a bad house huh? No wonder he grew up to be president! However the real surprise is that his house is actually inside this building. (I'm not kidding).
This is the real (they think) house that old Abe was born in. They just put it inside this granite structure which probably cost a couple of million dollars. Imagine what kind of house he could have had if he'd had some of that money.
A few miles down the road is the house that he lived in from age 2 -7 or so. This house has recently been acquired and is currently being restored.
We arrived at Jim and Patti's about 4:30 and are having a great visit. We have quite an agenda laid out for the next couple of days. I anticipate lots of photos.
