After watching it snow in Atlanta and New Orleans on TV last week while we enjoyed weather in the 60s, today we started paying our dues.
I took photos off and on all day. This one was taken with a flash about 4:30 this afternoon. You can see my footprints from about an hour earlier when I went to my herb garden for some rosemary. We have about 6 inches in the yard with no end in sight. When we woke up this morning there was none on the ground so I said "false alarm" and went back to bed. When I got up an hour later the ground was almost covered. Chains are required all over the Metro area and most of the freeways have been closed at various times today. Cheryl and I shopped yesterday and are prepare to wait out a long siege. Are main concern is power. I cooked a lot today but may have to resort to cooking on the fireplace. Cheryl talked to her sister who lives about 60 miles south of us but they just had a dusting which melted pretty fast. I guess we're just lucky.
Just as I finished writing this I got an email from PCC (the college Cheryl and I work for) that all campuses will be closed tomorrow. What a relief not to have to go out in this weather to try to get to work. Both of use are able to do much of out work from home so while not a totally free day it will be a low stress day. Final exams ended last week so the student won't have to stress either. I may even do some more blogs tomorrow as I've several topics to write about.
