Wild Animal Park

Yesterday's visit to the San Diego Wild Animal Park was a lot of fun.  The park is operated by the San Diego Zoo for the duel purpose of breeding endangered animals in a natural setting and providing people access to animals in a more natural setting.
The following are about 10% of the photos I took.  The weather was perfect for the animals and for the visitors.  We were able to see just about everything on display.  Almost all the animals are from Africa.
This parrot posed for me while he was eating.

A very rare type of antelope.
More African antelope.  I can't begin to remember the names of most of these species.
This guy is from the mountains of Northwest Africa.
This is one of the baby giraffes.  This is a rare spiecies.
Grooming!
These birds were flying around the park also.
A White Pelican.
Nesting
More nesting.
An African stork.
Cape Buffalo, considered one of the most dangerous animals on earth.
A California Condor.  Part of a breeding program for endangered California species.
Rare Masai cattle.
Their bull elephant.
He's really bigger than the photo suggests.
Part of a family group.  There is a new baby hidden behind then.  I never did get a good picture of it.
Giraffes eating.  These are the ones we would normally see in a zoo or animal park.
A silverback Forrest Gorilla and his pregnant female.
A first we didn't think these lions were real.  So we had to get closer to check them out.
They sleep about 20 hours a day.
Thinking about a snack.
She was quite alert.
A meercat.  This guy posed for as long as I wanted to photograph him.
The ostrich was sorting her eggs, pulling out dead ones.  This is a community nest.
White Pelicans waiting to be fed.
A rebok, I think.
The park is helping re-establish the population of several rare rhinos.  These are white rhinos who live in the savanahs of Africa.
This warthog was charging towards the wall when I got this photo.

We spent 5 hours at the park and could have stayed longer.  If you get down in this area it is well worth a visit.

You really got some good pictures, Mike! I especially like the lion flicking her tongue, the meerkat, and that lovely warthog. Thanks for sharing.
