General George Patton Museum

On Monday Brant (nephew) and I went to the General George Patton Museum. This resides on the site of the original Desert training area about 30 miles east of Indio. Patton developed and used this area before invading North Africa to fight Field Marshal Rommel during WWII.
General Patton still looks pretty good. This is what he looked like during the North African Campaign.
The museum has a pretty eclectic collection that also includes items from Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf Wars.
The highlight of the museum is the collection of old tanks, most from later eras.
This is a Sherman tank like those used by Patton during WWII.
Brant found a Vietnam era tank that he wanted to take home.
I chose a more modern one in desert colors. We had a great time visiting here and recommend it to anyone who is in the Palm Springs area and has an interest in the military.
