It's hard to believe that I haven't posted a blog in almost 2 weeks. As you can see from the photo above my garden is starting to produce. With all the rain I was afraid my tomatoes would just rot before they got ripe. We've had summer squash and eggplant for the last several weeks and finally this week the tomatoes are ripe enough to eat. You just can't find store bought tomatoes that rival those fresh from the garden. I planted 6 plants this year and they all are loaded with fruit. If we can just get some August/September weather I'll be overloaded with them.
This is a picture of one of my volunteer squash. Several came up from my compost and I just let them go. This guy is about 4 inches long and is trying to crowd out a rosemary bush that's in a bed below it.
Cheryl and I have been busy getting back to work after our Canada trip. As you can see from previous posts we all had a great time. Anita told me that Sarah and Amanda were pretty tired after they got home. So were Cheryl and I.
We had some scary news Tuesday morning. On Monday night my sister Susan was driving to work and was hit broadside but a guy driving a pickup. Her car (Ford Escape) ended up flipped on it's top and she had to be cut out of the vehicle. Fortunately all her seat belts held and the airbags deployed or the outcome would have been bad. She has a slight concussion and a fair amount of bruises. Many which came from the seat belt and airbags. She's already decide that she's going to get another Ford Escape as this one protected her so well.
Cheryl and I are off to Seattle for Labor Day weekend. We will be staying in downtown Seattle and playing tourist. We drive through there several times a year but have never actually visited. We've been invited to my brother, Dave's house for a small birthday/anniversary party on Sunday afternoon. It will be good to see him and Myrna. I'll take lots of photos.
