The River Cruise

Friday afternoon Cheryl and I took a river cruise on the San Antonio river. It was arranged by the conference Cheryl was attending and guests were invited. The cruise was about an hour long and filled in some of the history and stories that we hadn't already heard. Our guide was an Education grad student named John who was quite knowledgeable as well as entertaining.
Cheryl and I ate all our meals out and this resturant called Casa Rio, seen above, was our favorite. A combination of great food, seating right on the river and very reasonable prices. This is also one of the most photographed spots on the River Walk.
An unusual site was this tree growing out of the wall along the river bank. The roots are somewhere underneath the building.
This is the only mall in the USA that has a river in it. The river runs right up to some of the store fronts. I think the name was something creative like "The River Front Mall". Here's the actual river front entrance. The mall is also only about a block from the Alamo. Many of the businesses along the river front can only be accessed from the River Walk.

We had a great time on the cruise and believe its a must do for anyone who visits San Antonio.
