Snow Day Seven

We are officially concluding the seventh day of snow here in the Portland Metro area. The prediction is for another several days of storms with the worst due in tonight. We actually got to a point on Thursday and Friday where the main streets were fairly clear and the temperature got above freezing during the day. This photo was taken at 3:30 this afternoon from the front of our looking house down the street. It was snowing when we got up this morning and it hasn't quit yet. I think we have about 4-5 inches of new accumulation so far today.

In a fit of optimism we had scheduled a family dinner party here at our house this evening. We later decided that with the approaching storm to make it a lunch. What started as a dinner for about 15 ended up with Cheryl, Alex, Brandt, Katrien and I. The storm concerns wisely kept the out-of-towners home. We started with a fondue, courtesy of Brant and Katrien, and then worked hard on turkey, stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole and Cheryl's special roles. We finished it off with a chocolate mousse pie. I haven't decided what we are having for supper yet.

For those of you who don't know, Brant is our nephew and Katrien is his wife. They live just a few blocks from us. We had a great time visiting.

Brant and Katrien recently came across some special photos that I will be placing on the blog soon. Anyone who has heard the "Camp Lucky Boy" stories will appreciate them.

Late bulletin ..... I measured 9 inches of snow in the driveway at 9:30 PM this evening as I was preparing to take Alex to catch the MAX (light rail) to work. It's 18 degrees and no end in sight.
